Who are the Gaeans?

The Gaeans believe that Earth is the cradle of humanity.

They have a strong belief in the natural order of Earth and humanity, and view any tampering with that ‘order’ as unholy. They therefore consider living in space as against the order of nature.

On the other hand, many Gaeans view the rest of the solar system as there to be exploited for resources to develop Earth. If obliged to live in space, they prefer to re-create an Earthlike environment – even within an orbiting colony.

Gaeans do not wish to take part in any form of genetic or cybernetic modification.

Gaeans are less hostile to the orbiting Lagrange colonies, since they are physically closer to Earth. Although most Gaeans were born on Earth, some were born in the colonies and have migrated closer to Earth. In fact, Gaean extremists suggest that the colonies should be abandoned and underground complexes be built on Earth instead.
