AD 2203 – The First Space War

In 2203, the Martian colonies, together with a loose coalition of mining companies, declared their independence from the Federal Earth States. This marked the first major war fought by humans in space. The Martian rebels swiftly overran all the colonies.

Earth was placed under siege for a year.

On Christmas Day 2204, the Federal Earth States signed a peace treaty granting the Martian colonies full independence from Earth.

As for the other space colonies – such as Leonis, the Earth government did little to rebuild them. The Lagrange colonies eventually became independent self-governing states.
